Benefits of Ethernet over Copper
Ethernet over Copper (EoC) is a type of Ethernet in the very first mile connection that makes use of twisted copper telephone cable pairs that are typically currently in place at numerous service locations. Consequently, it is generally quicker to provide EoC than to develop brand-new fiber circuits in older service areas.
Ethernet over Copper is a mature and reliable innovation providing the same attributes as standard T1 lines: dedicated, symmetrical, and full duplex. Its primary benefit is that Ethernet over Copper is supplied over copper pairs of DS0 so EoC does not call for costly fiber build outs. An additional great benefit over standard T1 lines is that an Ethernet circuit is a lot easier to upgrade. With the conventional bonded T1, an upgrade in circuit bandwidth can take months considering that the regional telephone company has to install added circuits. With an Ethernet circuit, the port bandwidth could commonly be raised as merely a setup adjustment at the central office. Ethernet over Copper runs over several pairs of copper so if one pair goes down, the data transfer available does drop but you do not loose the whole circuit as you would with a T1 line. Ethernet over Copper costs is much below that of bonded T1 circuits of the same speed. EoC circuits have a Service Level Agreement (SLA) similar to T1 lines normally with the exact identical guarantees.
