T1 Internet Access for Dummies
The T1 Internet Service has long been available for more than 4 decades yet in no way have there been numerous "flavors" available. The number of providers has leaped amazingly since deregulation in 1996 from a couple dozen to several thousand. Since the telecom shakeout that began in 2001 continues many of these businesses are attempting to stay afloat by capturing as many clients as attainable with cheap products they claim being T1. Don't be fooled!
Lots of the desperate businesses are putting together substandard products they assert are really T1 solutions. Be leery of products with the funny titles like "burstable" and "reach". These items are oversubscribed similar to a DSL product. This suggests the provider places a single T1 connection in a CO (Central Office) and provides T1 connections to three or four clients banking on the fact that individuals usually do not all use the service simultaneously. T1 access means sole access to the Internet and you invariably have access to 1.54Mbps.
Make sure your T1 product for Wedderburn is a "clearchannel" item and is not shared with different users. Also be certain you truly have an SLA or Service Level Agreement from your provider. A SLA will specify the access you can receive and the expense the service company pays if they don't provide this kind of service. If you need help, establishing the correct SLA gives you the help of an expert if you don't have one in house. It's much better to spend a tiny fee up front than to enter a long term agreement with an inferior carrier. You can also receive authoritative help free of charge by just contacting among the many T1 brokers on the web.
