Advantages of Ethernet over Copper
Ethernet over Copper (EoC) is a kind of Ethernet in the first mile link that makes use of twisted copper telephone wire pairs that are typically currently in place at lots of service areas. It is typically quicker to provide EoC than to construct new fiber circuits in older service locations.
Ethernet over Copper is a dependable and also mature modern technology offering the same functions as conventional T1 lines: dedicated, symmetrical, and also full duplex. Its primary advantage is that Ethernet over Copper is delivered over copper pairs of DS0 so EoC does not require expensive fiber build outs. An additional wonderful advantage over typical T1 lines is that an Ethernet circuit is much easier to upgrade. With the traditional bonded T1, an upgrade in circuit speeds can take months because the regional communications provider has to install additional loops. With an Ethernet circuit, the port speed can commonly be enhanced as simply a setup change at the central office. Also, Ethernet over Copper runs over a number of pairs of copper so if one pair goes down, the data transfer available does go down however you do not loose the whole circuit as you would with a T1 line. Ethernet over Copper prices is much less than that of bonded T1 circuits of the exact same bandwidth. EoC circuits have a Service Level Agreement (SLA) similar to T1 lines normally with the exact identical terms.
