T1 Internet Access for Dummies
The T1 Internet Service has been around for more than 40 years yet never have there been so many "flavors" offered. The quantity of vendors has jumped since deregulation in 1996 from a couple dozen to several thousand. Since the telecom shakeout that began in 2001 continues many of these businesses are attempting to stay afloat by capturing as many clients as attainable with inexpensive products they claim to be T1. Don't be fooled!
Most of the frantic firms are putting together substandard products they claim are T1 solutions. Just be leery of products using the weird titles such as "burstable" and "reach". These items are oversubscribed similar to a DSL product. This means the provider places a single T1 connection within a CO (Central Office) and provides T1 hook ups to 3 or four clients banking on the fact that they usually do not all use the service at the same time. T1 access means sole usage of the web and you always have access to 1.54Mbps.
Make certain the T1 service in Albert Lea is a "clearchannel" item and is not shared with different clients. Also be certain you truly have an SLA or Service Level Agreement from your supplier. A SLA will define the access you will receive and the expense the service provider will pay in the event that they don't supply this kind of service. If you need help, establishing the correct SLA gives you the help of a professional if you don't have one in house. It's much better to pay a small price up front than to enter a long term contract with an inferior provider. You can definitely receive expert help gratis by simply contacting among the many T1 brokers on the web.
