T1 Internet Access for Dummies
This particular T1 Internet Service has long been around for over 40 years yet in no way have there been numerous "flavors" offered. The amount of providers has leaped amazingly from deregulation in 1996 from a few dozen to several thousand. As the telecom shakedown that started in 2001 continues many of these companies are attempting to stay afloat by getting as many customers as possible with inexpensive products they claim being T1. Don't be fooled!
Lots of the frantic businesses are putting together substandard products they claim are really T1 products. Just be leery of products using the funny titles like "burstable" as well as "reach". These products can be oversubscribed much like a DSL product. This suggests the provider places a single T1 connection within a CO (Central Office) and gives T1 hook ups to 3 or 4 customers banking on the fact that individuals don't all use the resource simultaneously. T1 access means dedicated usage of the web and you invariably have access to 1.54Mbps.
Make sure your T1 product in Beltsville is a "clearchannel" product and isn't shared with different users. Also be certain you truly have a powerful SLA or Service Level Agreement from your provider. A SLA will specify the access you can receive and the expense the service company pays if they don't supply this kind of service. If you need assistance, establishing the appropriate SLA gives you the help of a professional in case you don't have one already. It's much better to pay a small fee up front versus to enter a long term agreement with an substandard carrier. You can definitely get professional help free of charge by just contacting among the many T1 brokers on the Internet.
