T1 Internet Access for Dummies
The T1 Internet Service has been available for more than 4 decades yet never have there been so many "flavors" available. The quantity of providers has jumped since deregulation in 1996 from a few dozen to several thousand. As the telecom shakedown that started in 2001 continues many of these businesses are attempting to stay afloat by getting as many clients as possible with low-cost products they assert to be T1. Do not be fooled!
Most of the frantic firms are putting together inferior solutions they assert are T1 products. Be leery of products using the funny titles such as "burstable" and "reach". These products are oversubscribed similar to a DSL product. This suggests the provider places a single T1 link in a CO (Central Office) and provides T1 hook ups to three or four clients banking on the fact that individuals usually do not all use the resource simultaneously. T1 access means sole access to the web and you invariably have access to 1.54Mbps.
Make certain your T1 product in Oxford is really a "clearchannel" product and is not shared with different users. Also be sure you truly have a powerful SLA or Service Level Agreement from your provider. A SLA will specify the access you can get and the penalty the service supplier will pay in the event that they do not provide this kind of service. If you need assistance, establishing the appropriate SLA gives you the help of an expert if you don't have one in house. It's much better to spend a small price up front versus to enter a long term contract with an substandard carrier. You can also get professional assistance gratis by just contacting among the many T1 brokers on the Internet.
