Benefits of Ethernet over Copper
Ethernet over Copper (EoC) is a type of Ethernet in the very first mile line that uses twisted copper telephone wire pairs that are generally currently located in many service locations. Therefore, it is typically quicker to provision EoC than to develop brand-new fiber circuits in older service places.
Ethernet over Copper is a mature and trustworthy technology offering the very same features as standard T1 lines: dedicated, symmetrical, and also full duplex. Its main advantage is that Ethernet over Copper is provided over copper pairs of DS0 so EoC does not need expensive fiber build outs. One more excellent advantage over typical T1 lines is that an Ethernet circuit is a lot easier to upgrade. With the standard bonded T1, an upgrade in circuit speeds could take months because the regional telephone company has to install additional circuits. With an Ethernet circuit, the port bandwidth can often be raised as just a setup change at the central office. Ethernet over Copper runs over a number of pairs of copper so if one pair goes down, the bandwidth readily available does go down yet you do not loose the entire circuit as you would certainly with a T1 line. Ethernet over Copper pricing is considerably below that of bonded T1 circuits of the same bandwidth. EoC circuits have a Service Level Agreement (SLA) just like T1 lines usually with the exact same guarantees.
