Benefits of Ethernet over Copper
Ethernet over Copper (EoC) is a form of Ethernet in the very first mile line that utilizes twisted copper telephone wire pairs that are usually currently located at many service locations. It is typically quicker to provide EoC than to build out brand-new fiber circuits in older service places.
Ethernet over Copper is a trusted and also mature modern technology supplying the same attributes as typical T1 lines: dedicated, symmetrical, and full duplex. Its main advantage is that Ethernet over Copper is supplied over copper pairs of DS0 so EoC does not need pricey fiber build outs. One more fantastic advantage over standard T1 lines is that an Ethernet circuit is a lot easier to upgrade. With the traditional bonded T1, an upgrade in circuit speeds can take months because the regional telephone company needs to install additional loops. With an Ethernet circuit, the port bandwidth can often be boosted as simply a setup change at the central office. Also, Ethernet over Copper runs over multiple pairs of copper so if one pair goes down, the transmission capacity readily available does drop but you do not loose the entire circuit as you would with a T1 line. Ethernet over Copper pricing is much lower than that of bonded T1 circuits of the very same speed. EoC circuits have a Service Level Agreement (SLA) much like T1 lines typically with the exact same terms.
